How to write a scientific article yourself

Writing scientific articles is a rather complicated but interesting process that invariably captivates any person who is seriously interested in science. Moreover, to create your own scientific article, there are literally no age restrictions, and it is completely normal and natural for such works to be written by novice students or even high school students.
But why do you need to write scientific articles? In addition to the fact that they train a lot of skills, starting with collecting information and structuring it, ending with the ability to correctly and consistently express thoughts and understand really complex topics, offering some interesting solutions to a particular issue. Moreover, published scientific articles are a huge help with which it will be very easy for you to achieve success in your studies and further career. There are also a number of situations in which students are simply forced to write scientific articles, but whatever the reason, having gone the hard way, you will be satisfied with the result, because it will open up serious prospects for you.
Let us examine in more detail what needs to be done in order to write a worthy scientific article. To begin with, it is worth noting that the scientific articles themselves can be of two main types:
  • Reviews in which the author analyzes the current state of a particular scientific industry, highlights the existing problems, assesses further prospects. However, usually for such a plan to work, a deep immersion in the topic is needed, and only experienced scientists with a certain experience and vision of the matter are engaged in the like.
  • Experimental articles. A more common type of scientific articles is in which the author independently, or with the help of various specialists, puts forward some hypothesis and experimentally either confirms or refutes it. The final results should be grouped and conclusions should be drawn from them, containing the view of a particular author on the problem.
If your goal was an experimental article, then it is very important to divide your work into three large, and almost independent from each other parts. The first of these should be the collection of information, followed by its generalization, analysis and creation of the first draft work, and it ends with proofreading, elaboration of small details and “combing” of the text, based on general requirements for the design of such works.
Gather information on the topic in advance, highlight the most interesting works that you can refer to and always remember that in such materials it is important to confirm your opinion with third-party authoritative sources. If you have a lot of good information on the topic, then during the writing process you will save a lot of time and in general will be free to state your own thoughts.
An important point in writing a scientific article is the observance of the structure characteristic of such works. Mandatory points include:
  • Annotation.
  • Introductory part.
  • The main block of information.
  • Object and methodology.
  • Results.
  • Analysis and discussion of work.
  • Conclusion
  • The list of used literature.
The classical approach to scientific work implies that after each subtitle, you briefly state what information will be presented in this paragraph. The sections themselves are indicated by large Roman numerals. Now let's go through all the points.

Annotation.

It is important to understand that creating an annotation is a very branched process, as many readers will not go beyond it. The abstract itself should contain brief information about the work you have done and at the same time should be optimized, that is, contain basic queries, terms and words that will make it easier to find your work in the future.

Introductory part.

Here you should describe the problem that you are going to work on in this article. This is an important eyeliner that allows you to describe your train of thought and interest the reader in the topic of your work, explain why it is important, and how you came up with a similar question from general to particular.

Main part.

The main block of your article, in which you gradually need to describe the sequence of your actions. Start with a detailed description of the working methods , the object of study, its characteristics and features. Next, tell us about the experiment itself, provide the article with all the necessary information about the conditions and technical aspects of the work.
In the end, you need to talk about the result , provide graphs, tables of comparative analysis and show all the information that you received through the experiment. This section should contain high-quality graphic and photo materials with accurate descriptions. It is not worth it to show special imagination, the main part is based on facts and dry analysis, and you can tell about your thoughts and conclusions a little later, literally in the next paragraph.

Discussion of materials.

It is important here not only to present the results of your work, but also to draw conclusions from it. You can build some hypotheses, and in general this item contains your personal view of the question, because it is individual analysis that is very important in science. You can talk about why your research matters, where the results can be used and what they can lead to in the future.

Conclusion

This is a summary of the facts. Here it is necessary to write about the results of the work and about whether they helped confirm the hypothesis that was originally proposed to you. Only dry facts are needed here, and in general, the volume of this section should not be too large, a maximum of a few sheets.
As for the design rules, for their understanding it is worth familiarizing yourself with the works of other authors. Even when writing a draft, try to repeat the stricture of your more experienced colleagues. In the future it will be easier for you to make edits and bring the work to the general correct form. It is also worth noting that it would be ideal to ask some experienced specialist for technical review, as a rule, scientists are not opposed to helping young colleagues, and if you were polite and patient enough, you would receive a lot of valuable information and help.
You can also turn to specialists who will provide editing help.
